In this episode, Nicole interviews Scott Driscoll. Scott is the founder of Internet Safety Concepts, an education business focused on educating people on being safer on the internet. Together, Nicole and Scott talk about what exactly led Scott onto this path and why internet safety can be crucial for our families when exploring the internet.

Today, Nicole and Scott talked about the following:

  1. [12:47] If we’re gonna give our children these devices, I think as parents we’re obligated to understand there’s safety to go along with it [the internet]
  2. [21:42] Once something is seen, it’s hard to take back - once our children’s innocence is gone because of things we’ve seen or learned, we can’t regain that
  3. [36:25] Less is more; have one or two apps you really like, lock it down to private, communicate with the people you know and trust - then we can use it for fun, for creativity, for the communication it was meant to be

Host: Nicole Davison

Guest: Scott Driscoll

Scott Driscoll started his law enforcement career in 1988 and served as a youth officer for most of his tenure. In 1992, he began teaching drug education in the local school system, which started his journey into educating youth.

In 2003, Scott became a member of the FBI Innocent Images Task Force in New Haven, Connecticut. Many of his investigations included undercover online investigations, child pornography, and other crimes involving child victims. While investigating these crimes, he realized one element of computer crimes was missing - education on the internet and technology safety. This was the impetus for Scott to begin teaching groups outside of the schools about internet dangers and how to be safe on the internet and while using other technology.

In 2007, Scott started an Internet Safety Concepts consulting/education business. With this company, Scott has reached more people through conferences and seminars. His message is clear: if you don’t think about safety while on the internet and using other technology, you can put yourself and your family in danger. Scott has presented to thousands of students, parents, religious groups, education administrators, teachers, and the law enforcement community.
