Richard Carreon, retired from the US Army after 14 years. He served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

“MEMORIAL DAY 2017: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE”

We covered a lot of ground in this show. Assemblywoman Ellen Spiegel opened the hour thanking our Veterans for their service. She went on to discuss the expectations of the last week that begins on Tuesday for the 2017 Nevada Legislative Session.

Byron and Richard spoke about the five major areas of concern today with Nevada’s Veterans: Current Legislative achievements; Situational awareness; Current Assets and Outreach; Information and services; and current Policies and Procedures.

They both spoke about the Veteran’s Treatment Court and the Nevada Veteran’s Alliance.

Rabbi Benzi Saydman began the second half hour calling-in from southern California. Two weeks ago in New York City, the Orthodox Jewish Congregation Beth Hamidrash Hagadol was destroyed in a fire. The Gothic structure was originally built in 1850 as a Baptist church. The congregation was 120 years old. The Rabbi’s family was involved in this congregation starting with his Great-Grandfather in 1870.

The issue for OBSERVATIONS’ listeners to decide is whether or not a 14 year old boy with 4 friends who thought it would be fun to start the fire — would be classified as a hate crime.
