We recently lost the irreplaceable Dr. Art Epstein. In honor of his memory we wanted to relaunch the episode we had the privilege of doing with him last year. He was an incredible doctor, a pioneer for optometry and a man with the kindest heart. Please keep his family, friends an patients in your prayers.
Here are a few words from Dr. Alan Glazier about Dr. Epstein:
Art grew up in the Bronx, NY. He received his O.D. degree from SUNY where he also was the college’s first resident in ocular disease.

He co-founded Phoenix Eye Care and Dry Eye – OSD Center, serving as its Director of Clinical Research. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Midwestern University Arizona.

He was a fellow of the AAO, a Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academies of Practice, Diplomate of the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry and Past-Chair of the AOA Contact Lens & Cornea Section.

Art was a prolific author who published many hundreds of articles, scientific papers and book chapters. He was a Contributing Editor for Review of Optometry and Executive Editor of Review of Cornea and Contact Lenses. He founded, and served as Chief Medical Editor of Optometric Physician™, the first and most widely read E-Journal in eyecare. Dr. Epstein was a reviewer for numerous clinical and scientific journals. Dr. Epstein presented in excess of 1,250 invited lectures on a variety of topics nationally and in more than 50 countries across the globe.

Art cared deeply for the profession and his colleagues. He influenced so many optometrists; he was a passionate and impactful advocate for Optometry and left a positive, indelible mark.
