One of the thing we love about Star Trek is how the characters break the rules in order to save the universe. Even though everything blows up, they still manage to come out on top.
But, in Star Trek: Discovery, shit has hit the deflector shield thanks to the recklessness of First Officer Michael Burnam who tried to do the right thing, but managed to let her emotions get the best of her, giving the Klingons the motivation to unite the Empire and go to war with the Federation.
In the latest episode, “Context is for Kings,” Burnham is on her way to space prison, when she’s suddenly intercepted by the starship Discovery. Aboard the mysterious new ship she is asked to stay and find a way to end the war she started.
On board the Discovery, we find a mysterious menagerie of science experiments, and characters with special needs, and a gay guy obsessed with panspermia as a way to travel through time and space.

Brian Sweeney, the ship’s hyper realistic android that looks exactly like the guy who built him, and probably is just the guy masquerading as an android since he’s not a very good scientist.
And Colette Gregory, the ship’s life coach who keeps wanting to quit the show, but stays on because she’s been told by various civil rights leaders that it’s good for the cause.
