Today's guest on the Worth Listening podcast is Sam Acho. Sam is a nine-year NFL veteran, writer, public speaker, and humanitarian. In addition to his work as an ESPN sports analyst, Sam speaks widely at colleges, events, conferences, and churches. He is the founder and president of Athletes for Justice and the Director of Impact at AWM Capital. Sam served as vice president of the NFL Players Association and is currently an ambassador for International Justice Mission.

Sam has a truly unique and refreshing perspective on money and one a lot of people don’t expect from a former professional athlete. Growing up with Nigerian parents, Sam was able to travel between and see the differences of life in a Nigerian village and attending the top-rated private school in the states. This perspective has helped shape his perception of money and life in many ways throughout his life.

Today Sam will share with us more about the two different financial worlds he grew up experiencing and how they helped shape the way he thinks about money.

In This Episode We Discuss:

  • The differences Sam noticed between life in a Nigerian village vs living in the states
  • Why money is a tool to live the life you want
  • Sam and Lauryn’s personal definitions of wealth
  • What you can do if you don’t have the money for the experiences you want to have
  • Why his multi-year, multi-million dollar contract was life-changing in a different way than he expected
  • How “being a jack of all trades” can create new opportunities
  • What Sam and his wife are doing with their finances to impact the world

You can learn more about Sam and what he’s doing on social media. You can also order his book Let the World See You here.
