Alison is a memoir writing coach who guides retreats and is the creator and facilitator of Memoir Writing Ink, an online program that guides people through the process of transforming personal stories into memoir.

She is a bestselling, multiple award-winning author, playwright, and performer. Her critically acclaimed book, Confessions of a Fairy’s Daughter: Growing up with a Gay Dad, was a National Bestseller and selected as an Indigo “Top 50 Books of 2013.” Her solo play based on this memoir has also won top awards in virtually every festival in which it has appeared.

Alison has lived and traveled all over the world, from the Amazon rainforest to the Middle East and the former Soviet Union to Sri Lanka. She wrote a bestselling memoir, Honeymoon in Purdah, about her journey and provided glimpse into the culture and people of Iran.

Women in their sterling years have such a wealth of experience to share. Also deeply interested in self-nourishment, emotional health, and spiritual development, Alison uses many holistic methods to help these women step into their creativity and write their stories.

Ann Dowsett Johnson, author of the bestselling book Drink, shares her testimonial:

“As a bestselling author, I was stuck on my second book and found Alison’s program helped me get unstuck, inspired and motivated. Her presence is refreshing, and always welcome. She has a droll sense of humor, a true appreciation of humanity, and she is unfailingly wise about the challenges—and gifts—of the writing journey.”
