Unmanaged stress and anxiety can lead to various addictive tendencies / behaviours to self-soothe in the moment. In many cases, addictions serve as a distraction from the pain, uncertainty or discomfort of a situation. In North American culture, we are quick to judge addictions - most often linking them with substance abuse - like drugs and alcohol - when truthfully, people are addicted to work, fitness, social media, sugar, caffeine and more - yet it is't judged as harshly or seen as a "concern".
In this episode, I interview Jeanne Foot about her work with helping clients heal from addictions, and how addictive patterns relate soooo deeply to unprocessed past trauma and chronic stress.
Jeanne is the Founder of The Recovery Concierge, a boutique with a suite of services designed to help those struggling with the impact of substance. Jeanne is trained in Somatic Relational Therapy, Compassionate Inquire and is Certified International Addiction counsellor and Recovery Coach. She has been a guest on the "This Naked Mind Podcast" and "The SHAIR Podcast", and has been published in The Canadian Mental Health Journal on behalf of her contribution for her
work with The Family Navigation Project at Sunnybrook.
