Menorrhagia is the medical term for when menstrual periods are abnormally heavy or prolonged. As you can imagine suffering heavy periods can significantly impact one's quality of life and sadly many women will often tolerate them thinking that it is normal to suffer and be in pain when you are menstruating. Or women or young girls just do not feel comfortable to talk to their doctor about their period.
