It’s a whole new year so we here at What’s New to Netflix Instant!? waste no time talking about our favorite films of 2020 as well as the films we thought totally sucked! Then we go through all of the new titles hitting Netflix in January 2021!

Afterwards we venture to an alternate universe where puppets and mankind coexist together peacefully, only they don’t! It’s a violent, perverted, and often hilarious good time starring Melissa McCarthy and a whole lotta puppets in The Happytime Murders from 2018. Then, we watch David Fincher’s new biopic on Herman Mankiewicz, the screenwriter of Citizen Kane, and all around veracious and quick-witted guy in Mank from 2020. And finally, we explore the complex relationship between Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal symbolized through a gritty revenge story that serves as a metaphor for their relationship in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals from 2016.

All of this plus the benefits of minimalism, getting drunk and singing Guns N’ Roses songs, Joe Pesci soundboards, going off the grid before it was a ‘thing’, dubstep’s finest cinematic moment, and Sex and the City and Aliens.
