TRIGGER WARNING: This week's episode covers Binge Eating Disorder in depth and touches on other eating disorders
You may remember my guest this week from an episode a few months back. Amy Rapone is back to talk about a completely different topic and book! Last time we talked about #veryfat #verybrave by Nicole Byers. It was a fun and tongue-in-cheek discussion about body acceptance and body image. This time we are heading in a completely different direction to talk about Binge Eating Disorder by Amy Pershing and Chevese Turner. While this discussion is a bit more serious we still have a lot of laughs and talk about some great tools that can be used to connect with your body even if you don't have BED. We cover a lot of ground, including:

  • Amy's body liberation journey
  • Amy's experience with eating disorder treatment
  • What is Binge Eating Disorder
  • How rebellion fits with Binge Eating Disorder
  • Why bingeing is not emotional eating or overeating
  • How do you know if it is a binge?
  • What factors can create a climate for BED?
  • Why there is so much discussion of your childhood being key to development of this disorder
  • Parts theory and figuring out where BED came from
  • What is POWR and how can it help?
  • How curiosity and compassion are the one-two punch to help us create mindfulness and connect to our bodies
  • What weight stigma is and how it impacts BED
  • What is HAES?
  • Your body is your home and how Amy does this for her body
  • How ATM and intuitive eating intersect
  • What about recovery?

Keep reading everyone!
