I have never thrown out my questions when talking to a guest before, but I just had so much fun talking to Emily Lubin about The Hundred Year Diet by Susan Yager that I lost track of time and didn't ask anything I'd planned to! This book also provided us with lots to discuss. The 100 Year Diet was really problematic and triggering, so we were able to dive deep into some pretty nuanced discussion. Here are some of the things we talked about:

  • Emily's anti-diet journey
  • Dieting and children
  • The hardest parts of intuitive eating for Emily
  • Fad diets and why Emily will never eat ricotta cheese again
  • Diet pills
  • Why this book is so problematic!
  • The food and sex relationship
  • Blaming the individual for society's problems
  • Politics and food
  • The nuances of intuitive eating when not everyone has the same access to food
  • Why treating weight first is not healthy
  • The point the author is trying to make?
  • Is there anything good about this book?
