Liz Hayes would probably consider herself an every-day mom but being married to Clay Hayes quickly threw her into the spotlight when he won History Channel’s hit survival series, “Alone” Season 8. After I watched Clay survive 74 days in a remote location in British Columbia where he battled starvation, freezing temperatures, grizzly bears, loneliness, and a plethora of other challenges, I knew I HAD to meet the woman holding down the fort at home. As it turns out, Liz has her own incredible story of enduring hardship, facing challenges, overcoming obstacles, and a journey in building mental toughness as well. In this conversation, we chat about the obstacles she had to overcome, how she finds the balance between supporting her husband while also pursuing her own interests, the risks they took in starting a business as an already single-income family, and how she’s changed since the show.
