#37 Reading The Lyrics to "The Dying Song" By Slipknot & New Reaction - Do We Like It Now?
Manage episode 336806664 series 2976179
Hello maggots (as Slipknot fans call themselves), we received a lot of back lash after our first listen and reaction to Slipknot. Many of you suggested that reading the lyrics would help us understand "The Dying Song" better, and that maybe we should be more familiar with your favorite band before judging the music.
I appreciate the people who have been affected on a deep emotional level, and some even say 'saved' by this band. I am not discounting your emotional ties with the music. Speaking for myself (Chandra) the skill of the musicians and the catchiness or emotional depth of a song get drowned out- and possibly even made harmful- when combined with constant dark lyrics and imagery.
I am surprised you think its reasonable to tell someone to ignore what the bands name is, ignore the horror masks, ignore the screaming and guttural sounds, ignore the dark lyrics about death- and learn to find the love and unity within. Maybe it would be easier to appreciate the gift if it hadn't been rolled in dirt for some reason. Again. I know that is just my opinion, many people love Slipknot.
