This week's episode of Parent Tell discusses vaginal birth after cesarean, or VBAC. Kaila talks with Dr. Katie Bayer, her new local friend (celebrating this because we all know how hard it is to make friends as an adult, okay) and physical therapist who specializes in the pelvic floor. Katie tells the story of her first birth, a cesarean to welcome her twin girls into the world, which then led her to a VBAC experience with her second pregnancy. The two moms talk about the emotions that are behind the decision to attempt a VBAC as well as the history of cesareans in the US, and how they are hopeful that the trends lately are leading us toward listening to the birthing person's choices, seeing them as individuals when it comes to birth options, and normalizing the pursuit of pregnancy and postpartum knowledge.
