Welcome to Elliott's PT podcast. I'm Renae, and in today's episode, we'll be discussing the important questions to ask yourself before starting a new exercise regime.
1: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
By reflecting on your reasons for starting a new exercise regime, you can identify what you hope to achieve and set realistic goals accordingly. This can also help you stay motivated, especially when you face obstacles or setbacks along the way.
2. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF THIS?
This might include wanting to improve your overall health, lose weight, gain muscle mass, increase your endurance, or just feel better and more energized. Whatever your answer may be, defining your goals can help you stay focused and motivated as you work towards achieving them.
3. WHAT EXERCISES DO YOU LIKE?
This question will It prompts you to think about the types of exercises that you enjoy and are more likely to stick with over the long term. By identifying the exercises that you like, you can create an exercise routine that is both enjoyable and effective.
4. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE BEFORE?
This will reflect on your past experiences with exercise and what has worked or not worked for you in the past. By identifying what you have done before, you can build on your previous successes and avoid repeating any mistakes or exercises that you didn't enjoy.
5. WHAT CAN YOU REALISTICALLY COMMIT TO?
Think about your lifestyle, schedule, and other commitments, and identify how much time and effort you can realistically dedicate to your exercise regime. By identifying this, you can design an exercise routine that fits your lifestyle and is sustainable over the long term.
6. WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING SUITS YOU?
Think about the types of exercise and training methods that align with your goals, preferences, and physical abilities. Identifying the type of training that suits you can also help you set achievable goals and track your progress.
7. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS?
how you can involve your kids in your exercise routine and make it a fun and engaging family activity. You can create a shared exercise routine that can strengthen your family bonds and promote a healthy lifestyle for everyone.
8. DO YOU HAVE INJURIES?
Think about any physical limitations or injuries you may have and how they may impact your exercise routine.
