Welcome to Lightweavings podcast, where we ask the questions, "What's dimming your light and are you ready to do something about it?"
Those questions might make you feel uncomfortable, but they need to be asked in order for you to reclaim your power and step into your joy.

In this episode, Wendy and Dawn discuss that holding sacred, loving space for our Self and others creates a sense of belonging that all humans crave. We crave this because there is a safety factor in belonging that is instinctive.
To "hold space" is a term often used in interpersonal and therapeutic contexts to describe a supportive and compassionate presence for someone else. It means being fully present and attentive to another person's thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment or interruption. When you hold space for someone, you create a safe and non-judgmental environment where they can express themselves openly and honestly.

Here are some key aspects of what it means to hold space for someone:

When we actively listen it means that we give our full attention to the other person and listen to what they say. This means hearing their words and trying to understand, without getting lost in, their emotions and underlying concerns.

Holding space requires empathizing with the other person's emotions and experiences while understanding and sharing another person's feelings without necessarily having experienced the same situation.

It's crucial to suspend judgment and refrain from criticizing or evaluating the person's thoughts or feelings. People should feel safe expressing themselves without fear of being judged or criticized.
When we are able to create a safe and supportive environment where the person feels comfortable and secure enough, they can be vulnerable and share their thoughts and emotions.

Sometimes, people just need to be heard and understood rather than receive immediate solutions. Moments of silence will allow another person to hear themselves and can find their unique solution, respecting the other person's autonomy and allowing them to navigate their own experiences and decisions.

This all cultivates belonging and finding others that create our "Tribe" and a type of family of others who are willing to hold space for us.
The book that Dawn mentions in this episode is "On Our Best Behavior" by Elise Loehnen (subtitled "The Seven Deadly Sins and The Price Women Pay To Be Good")
