Episode 46: Guest Donna Thomson - Is 2024 The Year of the Caregiver?
Manage episode 397401967 series 3448769
In this episode, Bobbi and Mike talk with caregiver, author, and educator Donna Thomson about the possibility of 2024 being the year of the caregiver, caregiving as project management, caring across generations, and caregiving essentials.
Donna is Director and co-designer of the Family Engagement in Research Courses and Program and facilitates the Caregiving Essentials Cours at McMaster University.
Donna has written two books on caregiving:
The Unexpected Journey of Caring: The Transformation of Loved One to Caregiver
The Four Walls of my Freedom: Lessons I've Learned From A Life Of Caregiving.
Drawing on Richard's daily journal entries, Darlene wrote "Get In The Boat", a powerful and poignant memoir that captures the impact of dementia on her parents' lives and their family. It is a story of resilience in the face of life's most difficult encounters. It narrates the tale of a man who loved his wife so much that he confronted the complexities of caring for a loved one with a life-altering affliction, while experiencing the spiritual strength that sustained him through the most trying of times.
