MEDamorphosis Podcast is proud to present a 4-episode miniseries on rural, remote, and northern medicine from 2nd Yr UBC Medicine learner, Crystal McLeod. In this episode, Crystal speaks with Dr. Darren Jakubec, a GP Anesthetist working at Bulkley Valley District Hospital in Smithers, BC. Dr. Jakubec, who has been in practice for over 20 years, shares his highlight reel from a career dedicated to rural and remote medicine. Dr. Jakubec also addresses stereotypes associated with family medicine, including “Call isn’t that busy” and the value of alternative, multidisciplinary medicine in resource-limited settings. A big thanks to the many Northern Medical Program staff and faculty, for whom we just mention a few in this podcast, but all make this distributed site special! Guest: Dr. Darren Jakubec Hosted and Edited by: Crystal McLeod Music: Dr. Ian Downie New episodes of MEDamorphosis will be available on the last Monday of each month.
