While Tarot is steeped in age-old wisdom and tradition, it’s also a powerful tool to create NEW forms of expression. And Jia Sung’s gorgeous deck, The Trickster’s Journey Tarot, is a perfect example of this in action.

As a Singaporean Chinese artist based in Brooklyn, Jia’s work combines elements of Chinese mythology, Buddhist iconography, and folklore. Through a queer feminist lens, Jia strikes a delicate balance between honoring traditional culture and challenging established narratives.

In this episode, we chat about the fusion of Chinese mythology, feminist perspectives, and queer narratives in Jia’s art - and how she uses storytelling to transmit powerful messages through the cards.

Tune in for:

[6:00] Jia’s surprising inspiration behind "The Trickster's Journey Tarot” (as a total Tarot newbie!) [08:00] A behind-the-scenes peek at the rich cultural and mythological symbolism in her deck [15:00] Exactly how Jia created the deck's ethereal artwork - and the profound ways it shaped her spiritually [24:00] The brilliant way Jia made her deck guidebook accessible to everyone [29:00] Jia gives a sneak peek into her upcoming projects (another Tarot deck, perhaps??)

It’s not every day that I get to nerd out with a talented artist and Tarot deck creator 😍 Listen in for a thought-provoking conversation that bridges the worlds of art, mythology, feminism, and Tarot!
