On this week’s episode, we speak to Henry O’Connell of Canary Speech, LLC about technological advances in using analytical tools for speech and language to help identify and treat neurological conditions such as concussions and Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Henry O’Connell serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Canary Speech, LLC. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of MOXTEK, Inc. Mr. O’Connell served as the President of Dynex Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Magellan Biosciences, Inc., since March 2005. Mr. O’Connell has over 20 years of experience in analytical instrumentation, clinical diagnostics, life science industries and high-tech business sector. He served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Promega Corporation and was responsible for marketing programs in the life science systems business unit and directed the North American sales efforts, technical services unit, international distribution, and marketing communication. He served as Senior Vice President of Gilson Inc. and has held sales and marketing positions with instrumentation companies such as Hewlett-Packard, SpectraTech Applied Systems, Upchurch Scientific and Groton Technologies. Mr. O’Connell served as President and Group Executive of the Precision Flow Products Group of IDEX Corporation. Mr. O’Connell has been a Director of Thermo CRS Ltd. (formerly CRS Robotics Corporation) since November 14, 2001. He has also served as a Board member and advisor of several technology companies. He served as a Research Fellow focusing on genetic disease therapeutics at the National Institutes of Health. In addition to his academic training he has completed six sigma greenbelt training. Mr. O’Connell received BS in biology from Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Indiana and MS in Life Sciences from the University of Connecticut. He attended a Ph.D. program in Biochemistry at the University of Maryland.
