The sermon was delivered on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister. DESCRIPTION Just because the dominant factions of Christianity today perpetuate women’s submission and oppression does not mean it was the vision Jesus held out for the world. In fact, Jesus was way ahead of his time regarding women’s empowerment and liberation. Honestly, so was Muhammad at the founding of Islam. Why is it that these traditions have more often become tools of misogyny rather than forces for continued liberation? More importantly, what can we all do in these times to create a new way of gender equity and wholeness? I have some ideas and hope you will join me.
