The Philadelphia Eagles season has been disappointing thus far for fans. It's been mediocre at best. But can Doug Pederson, Jim Schwartz and company turn their fortunes around? To get into it with us this week is our friend of the show, Ed Kracz, Eagles beat writer for Eagles Maven at SI.com. We dove into the offensive and defensive issues, and how the Birds' can turn the corner as they face the division rival Dallas Cowboys this weekend.
But first, we got into some Phillies talk after the firing of manager Gabe Kapler, how it was done and whether we trust the front office to make appropriate adjustments in the offseason. (approx. 7:45)
We then diverted our discussion to the Nationals making it to the World Series where we gave our thoughts. (approx. 16:30)
From there, we talked about this Sixers preseason, specifically how rookie Matisse Thybulle has performed. (approx. 20:20)
This week, we have two different Highbrow Segments coming to your ears! During the first Highbrow discussion, the guys discussed how the new California law (that goes into effect in 2023) will allow college athletes to benefit financially from their own likeness, a concept that has been vehemently opposed by the NCAA. (approx. 27:20)
On our second Highbrow Segment, we dove into sports and the international scene, specifically how Daryl Morey's (GM of the Houston Rockets) and LeBron James' public statements have put strain on the relationship between China and the NBA. Moreover, how does this affect James' brand as a proponent of social justice? (approx. 38:15)
What we're throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with Ed Kracz from Eagles Maven at SI.com. While the Eagles deal with a mediocre season, we discussed how they can get out from under it. Might Howie Roseman bring in offensive and defensive talent before the trade deadline? Have the Eagles drafts been a disaster in recent years, or do we still have to play the "wait and see game"? Is Jim Schwartz in jeopardy of losing his job if his defense continues failing to stop opposing offenses? All of these topics and much more this week on the Table! (approx. 50:30)
