In this premiere episode of "The God Hook," host Carol Costello introduces the chilling story of Richard Beasley, infamously known as the Ohio Craigslist Killer. In previously unreleased jailhouse recordings, Beasley portrays himself as a devout Christian, concealing his manipulative and predatory behavior. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Beasley's deceitfulness extends beyond the victims he buried in shallow graves. Listen to the preview of a bonus conversation between Carol and Emily available after the episode. Additional info at ( carolcostellopresents.com ) Do you have questions about this series? “Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.” Every once in a while I have to remind myself and the people in classes I teach that the fact that we are present and trying goes a long way. Showing up, doing our best, learning something along the way will always yield something that not-showing-up could ever do. Embrace the messy and the beautiful and the process. It is life.…
Sharing a few reminders about what meditation is and thoughts on the practice before dropping into the body scan / visualization of this practice. Accepting each experience as unique, and approached with the concept of “expect nothing, gain everything” (Buddha saying). This guided experience travels through elements of the body in some cases referring to textures and sensations of the spine and organs. it will all feel familiar for anyone in tune with the structure and anatomy, but could be more descriptive than what some people might be used to. Enjoy the journey and as always, please reach out with any feedback.…
This episode comes post-yoga-class-feelings-of-contentment, called Santosha in the yogic tradition. It includes a touch of the meditations that take place in that state of Santosha. Our human connection and the language of the heart as an energy that can be shared are discovered and remind us of our contract with life, our own and all beings.…
It’s simpler than we think. The ability to tune in to ourselves, our wiring, and our frequency is there for all of us, the hard part is the practice. When we get out of tune and off sync with our inner nature, it’s easy to lose track. The simple thing to do is to get back on track. The simplicity is what makes it hard. Seeing up close for myself and perhaps you have encountered experiences as well with people you care about, getting out of tune can lead to painful outcomes. It’s a spiral that can quickly go downhill. My hope is that this practice of slowing down and reconnecting, simple breathing and calming can help bring us back to ourselves.…
This bonus 8-min Ted-talk-style episode highlights the conversation on forgiveness as shared in a larger talk I offer entitled “The Most Important Conversation You’ll Ever Have”. The real talk shared here applies to every one of us connected to other human beings. Part of our imperfect humanity ensures that there will be struggles. Being aware of and having this conversation on forgiveness makes those struggles easier to navigate. It also exposes our vulnerability, helps us to overcome fear, and is a true testament to the ability to give and receive love. Listen. Think and reflect. Apply. Let me know how it goes. Thank you!…
All because of our breath :) Take this guided tour through the power of your breath in exploring what’s on the inside.
