R.I.P. Great Resignation (2020-2023)
Manage episode 368134816 series 3317274
We have seen many trends come and go over the last few years, and most of them stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Great Resignation, a surge in people voluntarily leaving their jobs starting in the fall of 2020, is likely to be one of the most impactful.
Depending on the numbers you reference, the Great Resignation officially came to an end somewhere between December of 2022 and April of 2023, as the number and rate of resignations returned to pre-pandemic levels.
During that time, the Great Resignation was discussed so frequently, and it had such a large impact on so many people and workplaces, that we would do it - and ourselves - an injustice not to pause and study it before it fades from the list of trending business topics.
In this week’s episode of Dial P for Procurement, Kelly Barner looks back at the Great Resignation from a number of perspectives:
- What it was, and why it happened
- Whether being part of it was a good idea
- The aftermath being experienced in workplaces and by managers
- The lessons learned and changes ushered in that may be with us for some time
