Although this film hasn't held up that well over the years, we will give it points for trying to think outside the box with the source material.
The 1993 movie "Super Mario Bros." is a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise. The film follows Mario Mario (played by Bob Hoskins) and Luigi Mario (played by John Leguizamo), two Brooklyn plumbers who find themselves in a parallel dimension known as Dinohattan. In this alternate world, King Koopa (played by Dennis Hopper) rules with an iron fist. The brothers join forces with Princess Daisy (played by Samantha Mathis) to stop Koopa's evil plans and rescue the missing Daisy's father.

The movie takes creative liberties with the source material, incorporating elements of science fiction and dystopian urban landscapes. Despite its departure from the video game's whimsical and colorful tone, "Super Mario Bros." has gained a cult following over the years, appreciated by some for its unique and eccentric take on the Mushroom Kingdom.
