David Hanscom, MD practiced complex orthopedic spine surgery for 32 years. He quit his practice in Seattle, WA to present his insights into solving chronic pain, which evolved from his own 15-year battle. He eventually recovered and discovered that mental pain is the biggest issue. Anxiety is the pain. His book, "Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain" systematically presents established treatments for chronic mental and physical pain, which the current medical establishment is overlooking.
Dr. Hanscom's work reflects the approaches of hundreds of patients who have escaped from chronic pain. His latest book, "Do You Really Need Spine Surgery? – Take Control with a Surgeon’s Advice" is intended for health care providers and patients alike to make an informed decision about undergoing spinal surgery. Additionally, he recently launched a movement called, “Dynamic Healing” that recognizes the interaction between stress and a person’s capacity to cope. At the root of "Dynamic Healing" is the idea that an overwhelmed person subjected to sustained levels of flight or fight hormones will inevitably develop unpleasant symptoms and serious illnesses. Dr. Hanscom offers a way to safety, to healing, and to living a life free of pain and full of creativity.
You may learn more about David's work, his podcast, his writing, his resources for support, and his action plan at www.backincontrol.com, as well as www.thedocjourney.com for the self-guided action plan out of pain.

Please enjoy this episode with Dr. David Hanscom and may it be an invitation, a gift, and a medicine to all who are ready to heal, to feel, and to find the roots of safety in order to live a life of freedom.
