False urge to decide

Every day we make tons of decisions. Not making one is mostly a choice too. Mind just does it anyways. I’d rather be conscious about what I’m choosing. And, you? Even if it’s silence, it’s a choice to do nothing at all. So why it’s so hard sometimes?

We are given so many options. From daily decisions what not to be tempted to do, where to go, or what to buy instead of what we actually need, to big life decisions, relationships, our precious given time and all other people’s agendas that try to steal it from us. There’s no one to blame. It’s just a fact. Look at your inbox. People come with their type importance, but really, most of the time, even for them the thing they’re asking is not the top priority action to be made in the first place, they’re just waiting for an easy way out.

Problem is, we usually feel forced to make more decisions than we actually need to.

We’re so often lost in the things we desire to do or have, with all that we could and ‘should’ and then we feel overloaded by it all. This forces us to make all kind of decisions from the sense of protection and ignore what we actually need. We’re lost in doing. But we’re humans, right?

How come we forgot that we’re human beings, not doings?

We’ve got lost in other people’s agendas and we got confused with our own. Then, when we’re offered to step it up and be the best version of ourselves, to grow and change the game. We tend to overlook this, to think we need to DO something quickly and also dismiss the opportunity simply thinking that’s another thing that would steal our time and it’s just too much. But the truth is, we only need to be ourselves. Let me share you how can you be surer than ever before.

Don’t buy the false urge to make a decision quickly.

Your fear mind speaks fast and speaks loudest

It takes all the agenda that is not ultimately yours, and acts fast and is intense. Don’t buy the false urge to make a decision as if you’d know everything in a second. If your reaction is strong – pause. It’s a direct sign that you’re dealing with your fears and past memories, instead of seeing the big picture. Rather take a moment, few hours, or a day, sleep on it if you need to, and breathe through it. And just when you feel fully calm, the sure answer will come and pull you towards possibilities you could never imagine. Otherwise you’ll end up in the same situation playing over and over again, and not only you would not see the woods because of the trees, but would not know there’s a wide field or specific place that’s dying to know you, to embrace your work, your being and your worth.

Also, watch for hidden agendas. Even if you think it would be fun and good for you to take on this project or go on that trip, be clear about other people involved. Know their intentions and do not decide for them. Speak. Also watch for your own hidden intentions, on a surface level you might think you’re doing a right thing, but if your reaction is strong, be sure there’s something more inside your mind you haven’t looked in yet.

Third tip, watch your body language. If by making a choice you look more contracted, bended, intense, arms, legs crossed – then you’re making a wrong decision, but if you feel expanded, open and peaceful from within – go for it.

Don’t buy the false urge to make a decision quickly. It’s usually worth the wait. Just remember that waiting is proactive when there’s intention and when there’s none – waiting equals avoiding. That leads nowhere good. Make decisions with ease. It’s possible, and it’s the only way to create a life that fulfills you. No one’s forcing you, really. Be clear, be open, and stay creative and free.
