Supplements are popular and there’s one for nearly everything. But are they good for you? Are they safe? Dr. Guthrie often reminds his patients that supplements are pills, too, which means they've been taken out of their natural state and put in a pill form. Most of what we need is present in plants, and most whole plant-based foods have nutrients. But are there some nutrients we might be low in? There are some medications that deplete nutrients in our body and then we may need supplements. Aging can also deplete our nutrient levels.
