Vic Basmadjian

Vic Basmadjian is an advocate of low carbohydrate and ketogenic diets after recovering his own poor health. At 55, he was obese, weighing in at almost 300 lbs., and had high blood pressure and sleep apnea.

Over the past few decades, Vic had repeatedly attempted to lose weight through calorie restriction, and although he had often lost significant amounts, he had never been able to sustain the weight loss.

It finally occurred to him that cutting out refined carbs- such as rice, potato, and pasta- seemed to help with his weight loss efforts. Soon after, his son asked Vic if he knew anything about the ketogenic diet and that led Vic to start doing his own research on the internet.

Vic used the ketogenic diet to sustainably lose one hundred pounds, while improving his health and quality of life, and he has now turned much of his attention to helping others. Vic recently spoke with The Society for Metabolic Health Practitioners about his life-changing transformation and plans to earn the Metabolic Health Practitioner accreditation!

Vic’s Top Tips

  1. Address satiety – see which foods give you the highest satiety.
  2. Identify your trigger foods – know your Kryptonite.
  3. Get involved in community, find your tribe and keep yourself accountable.
