This week our team was once again down to 4 people with Phil out of town.
Shurita, Rue, Christie and Holly discussed the who God was to them and now who God is.
Rue and Christie recommended "Parts Therapy" or the "Internal Family Systems Model." Christie recommended the book "No Bad Parts" by Richard C. Schwartz
Some of the ones talked about:
God was exclusive. God is inclusive.
God was an inner critic. God is accepting.
God was authoritarian. God is relational presence.
God was safe/comforting. God is disruptive.
God was a destination. God is a journey.
God was a judge. God is a god of justice.
God was far. God is near.
God was contained. God is expansive.
God was a god of order. God is a god of creative designed chaos.
God was a god of retribution. God is a God who grieves.
God was male. God is non gendered.
We hope you are able to find a safe, supportive community in your deconstructing because "no one deserves to deconstruct alone" as we mentioned during week 17. Our Flipped Table Theology Facebook group may be a starting place for you and we encourage anyone who is deconstructing or processing religious trauma to join.
The Flipped Table Theology Podcast is a production of The Flipped Table Collective. You can explore all of the resources, classes, events, and trainings that the Flipped Table Collective has to offer at www.flippedtablecollective.com.
