Welcome back! In this episode, Leah talks about how the holidays, specifically Christmas time, can magnify and intensify the things going on in our lives, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. As our lives and circumstances change, the things we enjoy about the holidays evolve. We can move into more gratitude and celebration and enjoy the time we have with our loved ones. Leah explains how the holidays can also magnify the bad, like loss and those we miss, as well as the ugly, like conflict among our families. In the midst of these, Leah offers practical encouragement for what you can do to support yourself and others. In noticing the good, take the time to slow down, and cherish and treasure the time you have with your loved ones. When handling the bad, Leah encourages taking the time to mourn and reaching out for support, or in other cases, be the one to support a loved one dealing with loss. And finally with the ugly, which is likely the hardest of the three, Leah advises to walk with wisdom and grace and to be a peacemaker among the conflict. Have you ever walked into a room feeling hesitant, only to leave feeling lighter and more whole? Thatās what happened to Leah recently. What started as just another social gathering turned into a powerful moment of encouragementāa reminder of how meaningful connections can transform the everyday. Loneliness, affecting 1 in 4 Americans, isnāt just the absence of people; itās the absence of connection. We all crave the moments when we feel truly seen, understood, and appreciated. Thatās what Leah experienced at this partyāa glimpse of the joy that meaningful relationships bring. In a world where loneliness is common, moments of connection multiply our joy. They remind us that weāre not just moving through life alone. They give us encouragement and anchor us to something greaterācommunity. This experience prompted Leah to reflect on how often we overlook opportunities for connection. Whether itās attending a party, calling an old friend, or even making eye contact during a casual conversation, each moment is an invitation to build something deeper. What would it look like for you to seek meaningful connection this week? Maybe itās about asking better questions, leaning into vulnerability, or simply showing up. Welcome back! In this episode, Leah is picking up where she left off last time with the topic of unity in our uniqueness. Last week, she shared the first part of her conference presentation which discusses the question of whether unity means uniformity, and she explains our differences through the lens of a personality model called the DISC model. She explained the first two types, which are more outgoing types, so in this episode, sheāll be continuing with how we can be unified in our uniqueness and explain the more reserved types, āSā and āC.ā She shares how these two types view the world and interact in it, while also sharing how they may struggle and gives some tips for those who are these types as well as some for those who work with these types. Flourishing Flame: from Burning Out to Burning Bright
In this episode, Leah moves on to discuss one of the influential aspects of frameworks, which is boundaries. She explains more in detail about what they are, why theyāre important, and how to create and maintain them. Boundaries are the limits that keep you and your relationships safe. In life, we have boundaries all around us in different physical forms like fences and walls and even the lines on roads. These examples all keep us safe and show us limits. Interpersonally, boundaries provide safety for us and our relationships. They protect our time, space, and energy and are about us, not the other person. Some may see boundaries as constricting, but theyāre really a safety mechanism and a basic function. When used correctly, theyāre not to control others or manipulate them, but to provide safety within our relationships. They also help us know what our responsibilities are and for others to know what theirs are. They are helpful and crucial for healthy relationships. In practice, boundaries may look like not eating certain things because they donāt make you feel good, or not drinking alcohol or rules around what you let others borrow of yours. When creating boundaries, ask yourself what the things are that help to fulfill your wants and needs and that maintain your personal space, time, values, and needs. Having boundaries helps our frameworks and knowing them ahead of time allows us to have those frameworks before weāre presented with a question or opportunity. Theyāre also important for being able to fit in those things that are important to us and the things we need to get done. When enforcing boundaries, itās important to use stand-up words like āI wonātā so that you can give strong, empowered answers instead of a partial yes or no. Itās kind to give a clear answer and to have those boundaries since it helps give the other person clarity on where you stand and what to expect from you.
