Lasers and Feelings shows off a growing confidence and sure-footed way with their particular genre, whether you want to call their genre comedy, nerdy, heart-on-my-sleeve odes to various obsessions, and/or all of the above. The album, their first full-band full-studio affair, reflects a whole new level of effort for both of them, and tracks like The Mystery’s Gone (or the tango-tinged Christmas Ain’t About Me) clearly show that the results were worth the work.
