E10| Rejection, Redirection and your Voice as Medicine with Stephanie Rooker
Manage episode 354793337 series 3422726
On today's episode of the Guided podcast we are diving into healing your voice with Stephanie Rooker. Stephanie's mission is to help wake up all the voices of the world and she has an incredibly unique approach to helping people find their way!
Stephanie is a vocalist, voice teacher, therapeutic sound facilitator, mental health counselor, and founder of Voice Journey Sound Center. Her work combines practices of deep listening, somatic awareness, and mindfulness as well as exploratory techniques of improvisation, movement, song-creation, and free-form creative flow.
Rooker's Voice Journey® approach is a holistic, integrative, and liberatory course of study and practice to deepen our connection with our voices, ourselves, each other, and life. Based on the idea that the voice is an intelligence or entity that accompanies us throughout our lives and that each voice carries its own unique medicine, this work is an exploration of who we are & who we can be - in how we identify, express ourselves, and show up in the world.
In this episode Stephanie discusses how her original plan for her life was met with rejection and ultimately, redirection from the Universe - a journey that while filled with heartbreak, essentially led her to the purposeful work she does today - helping people find, heal and use their voices.
We dive into so many juicy topics in this episode including:
- Why confusion and existential questioning is an important part of the process in helping us to grow, build resilience and offer a source of internal resourcing and support.
- How the voice is an intelligence unto itself and can help us with our connection to our self
- Using the voice for grounding, presence and as a transcendental tool
- Simple techniques you can employ immediately to help open your throat chakra and use your voice
- Why the vibration of our voices is so important
- How the voice can be used to deepen our connection to our intimacy with our bodies.
- How the voice has its own intelligence and knows how to help heal your body.
- How voice work can be used for learning how to get our minds out of the way and the role trust and surrender play in voice work
- The importance of listening as an act of receptivity.
- Why the neurological process of signing words is so important
- Using music for manifestation
- How the voice can help you to feel good right here, right now.
- Why Stephanie's mission is to liberate all voices and why voice lessons are not just for singing.
- How the voice can help us to shift our relationship with ourself and build resilience
- How she is using the voice to help in healing trauma stored within the body
- How to use sound to help regulate the rhythms of the physical body
- The power of humming for three minutes every day
