I had a heartfelt and important discussion with Dr. Michelle Maidenberg about Mindfulness, what it is, how it works and how it differs from other more cognitive therapeutic modalities. We discussed why it is hard to achieve and our propensity to avoid paying attention and feeling to our thoughts and feelings, which she discussed at length on her Ted Talk: Circumventing Emotional Avoidance. She shared it’s evidence based validity, its tremendous benefits to our brain and to cope with anxiety and the stressors of everyday life and to heal. We ended our conversation sharing how it changed both of our personal lives and how it can change yours. You can find and follow Dr. Maidenberg on her website at www.michellemaidenberg.com , www.thrumyeyes.org, on Psychology Today, or on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube @drmichellemaidenberg .
