Today on Holistic Dentistry I’m joined by my guest, Joy Moeller, a myofunctional therapist, dental hygienist, author, and former lecturer at Indiana University. Joy is also a founding lecturer with the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, and a founding board member with the Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences.

In this episode, we’re discussing the ways the tongue can impact various parts of the body, and specific problems myofunctional therapy aims to solve. Joy shares the benefits of myofunctional therapy and how it can help patients as young as three years old. She also shares the relationship between myofunctional therapy and breastfeeding, ADHD, and sleep apnea, plus the benefits of myofunctional therapy for orthodontics.

Lastly, Joy shares her goal for the future of myofunctional therapy, plus six steps to take in support of healthier tongue function.

Do you have a mouth- or body-related question for Dr. Sanda? Send her a message on Instagram! Remember, you’re not healthy until your mouth is healthy. So take care of it in the most natural way.
