I am really excited to bring you another Olympian on the show today. My guest is Maggie Malone Hardin, who is heading to Paris to compete in the javelin throw for Team USA. Maggie is now a three-time Olympian. Maggie lives in Nebraska with her husband, Sam, who is her coach.

She was the 2016 American National and Collegiate record holder and NCAA Division One champion. She threw for Texas A&M University. She has a really amazing post-trial interview that just drew me in to her passion for this sport. We dove into that in this episode and it was such an interesting part of the conversation. She share about her battles where she nearly quit the sport and really had to check-in with herself about finding her why!

Maggie talks a lot about her faith, which seems to be a trending topic in these post-Olympic trials interviews with these athletes I’ve been talking to. It was also so much fun learning more about the javelin and her training. Let’s give these field event athletes some love!!

I love Maggie’s spirit and energy and I cannot wait to cheer for her in Paris. Go be bold, Maggie. We are all excited for you.

What we talked about:

5:20- How she is feeling coming off of the Olympic Trials

8:30- Mental health battles that she has faced in sport

10:30- Conversations about NIL deals and the landscape of college athletics

21:40- Specializing in sports

23:00- Qualifying for the Olympics

29:50- Being coached by her husband

32:45- Maggie’s day-to-day life and training

35:00- End of podcast questions
