This business is evolving so fast it's actually hard to keep up...
On this special episode we dive into a brand new movie on Netflix that takes us back into a dystopian sci-fi world that was born from some Canadian talent. It's time for 'Code 8, Pt II'.
In this sequel to Code 8, Connor (Robbie Amell) is out of prison and working as a janitor at a community center, having cut ties with his former criminal associate Garrett (Stephen Amell). Connor's attempt at staying out of trouble is destroyed when he's forced to help 14-year-old Pav (Sirena Gulamgaus) escape from a pack of corrupt officers led by Sergeant King (Alex Mallari Jr.). King uses the newly launched robotic K9’s to track Pav down, while Connor finds himself once again reaching out to Garrett and his crew for help, but can he trust the man who landed him in prison in the first place?
The story of this franchise is so fascinating and with pt II now on Netflix, its fun to see a movie like that this that was essentially born out of a fan campaign turn into an actual franchise.
We had the pleasure of talking with Co-Writer and Director Jeff Chan along side co-star Alex Mallari Jr about the origins of the 'Code 8' universe, the relationship that Canadian talent has with science fiction and what the future holds for these characters.
