The Lost Ways of Knowing teaches a basic history of the Indian traditions that feature centrally in modern yoga, focusing mainly on the core value of awakening, or being liberated from ignorance and bondage. This distinguishes Yoga's ancient origins and aims from the more superficial concerns generated by the loss of its sacrificial, initiatory context. Our ultimate aim is to establish a working definition of yoga as awakening, and to initiate a continuing dialogue about awakening as the systematic overcoming of self deception, leading to deeper intimacy with what is real. A Yoga in Action production by the Circle Yoga Shala.
