1. Plan ahead your meetings

  • Contact your clients
  • Use LinkedIn
  • Look who is attending – is there an event page on FB or LinkedIn, or maybe they released a list of attendees – who looks interesting for you to meet

2. Allow some free time either each day or on the last afternoon to wander round the event and chat to people at any booths or stands OR to hold meetings with people you met during the event

3. Put a post on the social media, telegram or networking tool announcing who you are and why you are attending and who you would like to meet i.e. like-minded people, new clients, entrepreneurs, etc

4. No matter what – don’t forget to take plenty of business cards, a notebook, and a pen

  • I always wrote on the business card what we discussed so I remembered when I got home

5. Try to attend many networking events in the evenings – drinks, dinners, etc. Some of the best introductions come over a glass of wine

Overall make sure you dress for the job, smile and even if you are nervous as hell, fake it till you make it.
