Jennifer (Jenn) Colby has operated Howling Wolf Farm, LLC a diversified meat livestock farm, in the Randolph Vermont area since 2000. In 2022, she began hosting the Choosing to Farm podcast for livestock farmers and ranchers, as well as offering online courses and workshops. Previously, Jenn spent over 25 years working professionally in agriculture and environmental management to help livestock farmers find success and quality of life. Under this overarching theme, she was part of the University of Vermont Center for Sustainable Agriculture’s Pasture Program for seventeen years, coordinating the program for ten.

Jenn served as the Vermont Grazing and Livestock Conference organizer, developed a longstanding partnership with the Vermont Grass Farmers Association, managed multi-media outreach and provided leadership to pasture and livestock-based educational activities, research and technical assistance around the state. She managed a UVM team providing technical assistance in the Long Island Sound Watershed (Connecticut River), was the co-chair of the Vermont Farm to Plate Network’s Production and Processing Working Group, and led the establishment of the New England Grazing Network (NEGN).

Jenn has taught grazing and livestock courses at Sterling College and Vermont Technical College (VTCS). Currently, she is an advisor for the Randolph Technical Career Center [H.S.] agriculture program and the VTC Ag and Food Entrepreneurship Center (CAFÉ), is the co-Executive Director of the Northeast Pasture [Research] Consortium (NEPC), and is a National Grazing Lands Coalition (NatGLC) Regional At-Large board member. She is an alumnus of Ranching for Profit and is currently enrolled in Executive Link.
