Featured in VoyageHouston Magazine, Owner of Tejanas Fumadoras, Danine Alvarado shares her journey of struggling with her mental health while being a stay-at-home mom and finding help from her mother. With medication and therapy, Danine was able to overcome her anxiety and depression, which allowed her to enjoy her family and surroundings. After moving to Houston, she faced homelessness and started selling skincare and food to make ends meet. She eventually found success on social media by sharing her passion for cooking and wine, which led to collaborations and free products. After her daughter attempted suicide, Danine shifted her focus to her daughter's mental health but continued to help small businesses build their social media presence. Despite obstacles, Danine's journey has been manageable, and she continues to grow her catering business and social media career.
Neen in La Cocina, which focuses on teaching easy and delicious cooking to women who don't know how to cook. She also runs Tejanas Fumadoras Catering and Events, which specializes in elevated Tex-Mex dishes incorporating smoked meats, and plans to grow the company by acquiring more party supplies and becoming a one-stop shop for all Fiesta needs. She aims to grow her brand by creating merch, offering a la Carte services to small businesses, and eventually having a cooking show on YouTube and Tik Tok.
