Unlocking Potential: Ed's Path from Oil & Gas to Personal Growth and Community Leadership
Hey everybody, this is James and you’re listening to the “Man: A Quest to Find Meaning” podcast, the show that helps men navigate modern life, find their true purpose, and redefine manhood.
Today, we're talking with Ed Bassett about emotional regulation and communication, accountability and taking self-responsibility and the benefits of building a support system. He is considered an expert in the areas entrepreneurship, consulting and Mentoring and a growing passion for wellness and growth due to his diverse experience.
Ed is from Trentham in Staffordshire and worked in oil and gas for 25 years in London and overseas before becoming self employed aged 41.
Recently relocating back to the area, Ed opened a fitness studio and then a climbing centre in 2018, works as a consultant to leisure start ups, is a Gov UK business mentor, a personal coach and runs a men’s development platform called BlueMind .

He is also the Chair of the Stoke on Trent Youth Collective which works with 95 youth charities to provide opportunities to Stoke’s underprivileged young people.

A keen traveller and sportsman Ed is passionate about wellness and personal growth. A divorced father of two he is currently is doing up a house in Corfu so he can simply grow olives one day and make appalling wine .

Intrinsically, he believes that we all have the potential to elevate if we learn the skills to do so, are connected to our own path and that we are not defined by our past and that everything worthwhile in life is challenging.
