Metaphors are a great way of getting your point across. Great marketers and writers use metaphors and colloquial phrases all the time. You’ve heard them plenty of times. You probably use metaphors every day communicating with your prospects and clients. There are thousands of metaphors and colloquial phrases. Here are a few:
A shot across the bow His better half Birds of a feather flock together Have your cake and eat it too Worth its weight in gold Standing on the shoulders of giants
The cool thing about metaphors are they are very effective if you’re explaining something about your business, product, or services to someone, they don't understand “the language of your business.” Be careful.
Don’t point the "metaphor gun" at yourself. Don’t constantly mumble negative words and phrases under your breath, reminding yourself you’re not good at something. Phrases like, “...What a loser.” or “...Why do you even try to do this.”
When your subconscious mind hears negative comments over and over, it imprints the information on your brain. You may not realize it, but you stamp those negative metaphors deep in your brain.
