Welcome to Medicine With The Medals Podcast, today's episode where we have the pleasure of hearing from Dennis McKenna, PhD. American Ethnopharmacologist, Research Pharmacognosist, Lecturer and Author.
This episode has a twist within an asking question portion that will surely open our minds through plant medicines that will bring benefits to each of our lives.

Dennis will be sharing his experiences with psychedelics, including his first experience with LSD during the "Summer of Love" in Berkeley in 1967. He will also touch on the cultural context surrounding the use of psychedelics in the 1960s and how Dennis and his brother's experimentation with drugs was initially met with disapproval from their Catholic parents.
He also discusses his accidental discovery of mushrooms during his adventures and the messages he felt they transmitted to him. He goes on to share insights about the inherent properties of plant medicine and how individual preparation, expectations, integration of the experience, and post-treatment experiences are all important factors that can impact the overall experience and benefits of the plant medicine.
He believes that the brain is wired to detect patterns, and that sacred geometry represents patterns that the brain can recognize. He suggests that psychedelics have a unique ability to bring the background of our perceptions forward, which is normally suppressed by our programming. This insight highlights the potential for psychedelics to alter our perception of reality and open our minds to new patterns and perspectives.
Dennis shares his belief that sacred geometry is present throughout nature and permeates reality. He suggests that by opening ourselves up to these patterns, we may gain a greater understanding of the natural world and our place within it.
Join us as we are inspired and informed by Dr. Dennis McKenna's journey and his insights into the positive effects of medicinal plants on our lives.
