EPISODE 68 Carb cycling is not for everyone. But it can be helpful for some! In this episode, I explain what carb cycling is and who it might be for. I even give example macros for each phase along with a daily meal plan depending on your activity level. EPISODE 67 The truth is, eating healthy is not the same as eating for fat loss. Protein, carbs, and fat each play an important role in helping you reach your health goals. You MUST maintain the correct balance to get the results you want. In this episode, I explain what macros are and why they matter more than just eating healthy, the common mistakes that keep women stuck, and how to track and adjust macros for fat loss. EPISODE 63 In today's episode, I'm sharing my top tips on how to find joy in the journey. Many times we think something will magically change once we reach our destination. "After I lose five pounds, I'll feel more confident." "Once I get this promotion or finish this big project, I'll have time for myself." But, will we? Does something actually change in that moment where we can finally relax or does something else just become the focus? In my experience, life does not wait for us to reach some magical moment. Instead, it's about learning to enjoy and appreciate the journey rather than just aiming for the finish line. This week, I challenge you to take two to five minutes every day to sit with your own thoughts. Take time to think about what you are grateful for, what went well, what was challenging, etc. Then take time to pray, journal, meditate, or talk to someone. EPISODE 62 The holiday season is full of family gatherings, parties, delicious food, and awesome moments that we really want to be present in. But these scenarios can make sticking to our fitness goals seem really hard. Well, I'm here to tell you that one meal or one day will not undo all of your hard work! Holidays are much more than food. They're about the quality time with our loved ones. Focus on the experience. Most importantly, practice self compassion and let go of the guilt if you do overindulge. You're human. It's ok. It's part of the journey. To prepare yourself for the holiday season, I challenge you to get a sticky note and write, "One day will not derail my progress." EPISODE 52 Today's topic is something I've been wanting to talk about, but wasn't sure how to deliver it best. It's controversial, but my hope is that it is normalized as we continue to have conversations around it. I have made the decision to not drink alcohol in 2024. In this episode, I am discussing scenarios that I have experienced this year and how I recommend you react if you find yourself in these situations. I also give suggestions on how to react if you are drinking at an event and encounter someone who has decided not to drink. This week, if there is something you want to change for the better - for your family, your future, your life, your health, to make you feel better - do it! Don't worry about what others might think or how they will react. You do not have to offer an explanation. Stay strong - Strongest in the Room! EPISODE 49 In this episode, I'm bringing up a topic of conversation I have been having with members lately - how to handle hurt people when they are hurting you. Something that I have learned is that when someone does or says something that hurts my feelings, it is usually a reflection of how that person feels. They want to spread the hurt and for someone else to feel what they are feeling. So today I'm sharing the advice I give to others when they are in this situation and ask me for help. This week, if you're feeling sad or upset about something that you just cannot shake, I challenge you to grab it where it hurts - literally (your stomach, neck, heart, etc.) - wherever you are holding your hurt and throw it as far away from you as possible. I know... it sounds silly. But I tried it and I felt so much lighter afterwards! Just trust me (and the writers for Bluey). EPISODE 32 Do you tend to overtrain and push your body beyond its limits without adequately resting and fueling your body? Do you go through phases of intense workouts and strict meal plans only to eventually feel burnt out. You may even end up losing all the progress you made. EPISODE 29 Dorene Boehler is a true testament that your mindset is everything. When she joined Jen's Get Fit Group in 2020, she was convinced she would fail, but decided to give it a try for a month. EPISODE 27 In this episode, I give a recap on the goals of the 12-week challenge we just completed inside of JGFG and what the results have been so far. SPOILER ALERT: they're amazing! I mean, absolutely jaw dropping! Head to toe. Inside and out. And I don't want to lose the momentum we gained over the last few months, so I'm giving daily actionable steps to continue working our minds AND our muscles as we head into the fall. I also talk about consistency and how staying consistent is more important than the amount of workouts you do per day. Small consistent steps will always win over huge unrealistic actions that are probably only hindering your results anyway. 30 minutes of activity everyday is so much more effective than pushing hard day in and day out and burning yourself out or causing an injury. Your assignment for this week: Talk nice to yourself. Be proud of yourself. Respect yourself. And BE CONSISTENT! Whatever that may look like for you. And don't forget to celebrate the small wins along the way.
