This is the first episode in our series featuring the 2021/22 Innovate UK Women in Innovation award winners. More details about the programme can be found in the links below.
Caz Icke is a specialist Physiotherapist with over 13 years of neurorehab experience both in the UK and Canada, and is currently practicing at the Frenchay Brain Injury Unit in Bristol.
Caz founded SoleSense in 2018 in response to the chronic under-resourcing within the UK health system which often results in lack of therapy intensity for those that need it most.
SoleSense uses wearable technology to provide a digital rehabilitation platform, where real-time biofeedback is delivered to the user to enhance balance and gait performance outside of therapy contact time.
Caz has recently won one of the "Women in Innovation Awards' from Innovate UK and is set to develop her second prototype and prepare for multi-center clinical feasibility testing next year.
We discussed:

  • The development of her business, which will enable more therapy, more quickly to more people who need neurorehabilitation
  • Being a Women in Innovation winner
  • Finding calm in her mind
  • Finding a support system
  • Building a business at a pace that feels right for you
