What is “resilience”? When we take a look at the meaning of resilience in the context of physics, we begin to really tease out the nuance of what resilience is. So often when we talk about resilience, we are really talking about something else – survival. There is a significant difference between resilience and survival – and the two often get wrapped up into one. Survival techniques are what we develop down The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole, while resilience is a key to climbing out of The People Pleasing Rabbit Hole. So, it is worth knowing the difference. Resilience isn’t just something we need on an individual level. When we operate through the lens of survival rather than resilience in our systems, in our society, we lack the backbone which allows for change, development, and advancement. It can all start on an individual level – when we challenge ourselves to flex our resilience muscles.
