Netflix's new action film, The Gray Man, is a high-octane spy-thriller with Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Chris Evans in the lead roles with Tamil superstar Dhanush playing a supporting character.

Here are some lesser-known facts about the film. Let's begin

  1. Chris Evans essays the roles of the villainous Llyod Hansen in the film. However, he was initially offered the role of the protagonist, but Evans declined as he preferred to play the antagonist. The role eventually went to Ryan Gosling.
  2. Ana de Armas has previously worked with both Gosling and Evans in different films. She starred alongside Gosling in the critically acclaimed Denis Villeneuve sci-fi action film Blade Runner 2049. In Rian Johnson’s riveting black-comedy drama, Knives Out, she played the lead role while Evans played an important supporting character.
  3. Mishaps during filming are inevitable, but on Evans' very first day of filming, he accidentally smacked Gosling in the face with his prop gun.
  4. In a particular scene, Evans’ character, Hansen, calls Gosling’s character, Six, a Ken Doll, in reference to the popular Barbie toys for children. Coincidentally, Gosling will essay the role of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s 2023 film, Barbie, starring Margot Robbie in the lead.
  5. The scenes featuring Baku, Azerbaijan, were not on location. Instead, they were shot in the Czech Republic. In fact, the buildings in the scene featuring the funeral is the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill in Prague, the Capital of the Czech Republic.
  6. Chris Evans has previously worked with the film’s directors, the Russo brothers, on multiple films. The Russo brothers helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, in which Evans played the titular superhero. They teamed up again with Evans for Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: End Game.
