This week we discuss the 'digital therapeutics' space, a fascinating and rapidly growing area of medicine that will undoubtedly become increasingly relevant in the digital age. Our guests include: Patrick Gleason, PharmD, FCCP, FAMCP, BCPS, Assitant, VP for Health Outcomes and Nick Friedlander, PharmD, Clinical Programs Pharmacist, Health Outcomes at Prime Therapeutics. A PBM, Prime Therapeutics launched in 1998 by two Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, Prime has grown steadily. Prime partners with 19 Blue Plan owner clients. This unique ownership structure makes it possible for Prime to remain absolutely committed to the health of the members served. Prime manages pharmacy benefits for nearly 33 million members through our relationships with health plans, employers, and government programs, including Medicare and Medicaid. Dr. Pat Gleason leads Prime’s clinical health outcomes assessment team in developing and improving pharmacy benefit management programs. Through integrated medical and pharmacy claims data analysis, he assesses clinical program opportunities and post-implementation outcomes. In addition, he negotiates and fulfills pharmaceutical manufacturer value-based purchasing agreements. Dr. Nick Friedlander is a clinical programs pharmacist in the Health Outcomes division of Prime Therapeutics. He completed my PGY-1 managed care residency with Prime earlier this year and gained exposure to the realm of digital therapeutics as Prime developed a digital strategy designed to improve member outcomes and deliver quality care through novel channels.
