Going into the 2019 Marine Corps Marathon, Brittany Charboneau was primed and ready to break the almost 20-year course record set back in 1990. She felt like nothing could rattle her after she had her best training season yet thanks to incorporating weekly creative themes, art and trail running. A little rain can't ruin a parade, but a lot of rain can certainly have an effect on attempting a course record. This year's race was an epically wet one and one that sent some glitches in Brittany's game plan. While she did win the race as the first overall female, she didn't break the course record (this year). The key importance, however, is that she walked away with invaluable learnings as she heads into her next season preparing for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials in February 2020. Brittany is looking forward to continuing her themes and art and adding a focus on visualization and belief. It's all possible!
